That’s it security<\/a> is responsible for our fear that we feel before using strong rollercoasters and carousels. We are afraid of overloads, riding upside down and safety features. This is of course a completely correct defensive reaction of our bodies. Fortunately, amusement parks around the world are very safe. Accidents are extremely rare, and a large part of them are minor incidents. It has been calculated that the probability of dying in an amusement park is 1 in 834 million<\/strong>. Maybe these numbers don’t mean much to you. To illustrate Flying an airplane carries a risk of death of 1 in 215 million<\/strong>, and yet it is said that it is the safest means of transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accidents in Energylandia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In Energylandia they took place two serious accidents<\/a> with the participation of Hyperion and RMF Dragon rollercoasters<\/strong>, of which one mortal<\/strong>. The incident took place on August 16, 2018 at approximately 8:30 p.m.<\/strong>, just before the park closed. One of the servicemen responsible for the Hyperion roller coaster entered the closed area under the track.<\/strong> Unfortunately, the queue hit the 37-year-old employee with a huge impact. Despite the quick response of paramedics and resuscitation, the employee could not be saved. On May 27, 2015, another serious incident took place at Energylandia<\/strong>, fortunately without fatalities. One of the gardeners entered the closed area under the RMF Dragon rollercoaster.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accidents in Legendia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You are home in the case of Energylandia, both accidents involved employees<\/strong>, the situation is completely different in Legendia. There were many incidents in the Silesian amusement park<\/strong>, because the park has been operating since the late 1950s. Unfortunately, it is difficult to obtain information about all the events, so I am describing a few of the most recent ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diamond River Incident<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

On September 11, 2021, two boats collided on the Diamond River attraction.<\/strong> Fortunately, only two people reported minor injuries (a cut finger and leg contusions). Despite many contradictory reports on the Internet, the situation was not serious, and after an expert assessment, the attraction continues to operate normally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would like to add that it is true the comfort of boating on the Diamond River is not very high<\/strong>. The boats hit the water surface hard, causing a strong jolt to the passengers. Employees recommend using your hands to brace yourself, especially for children who are at risk of hitting their faces on the handles<\/strong>. I have the impression that these experiences are caused by the faulty construction of the track along which the boats float. A similar attraction called Anaconda is also present in Energylandia and there are no such experiences at all. The float is very comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rollercoaster brake failure<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

4 years ago, exactly On August 19, 2017, the brakes on the Scary Toys Factory rollercoaster failed<\/strong>. As a result of the collision of the wagons four people were taken to hospital<\/strong> with spinal and limb injuries. A few months earlier, in June, a wagon fell off the rails on a similar attraction. The wheel that pulls the wagon up came off, causing the wagon to stop abruptly. Fortunately, no one was hurt then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was also another incident on the Scary Toys Factory coaster in 2019<\/strong>, when a brake failure required the evacuation of passengers by the fire department. Two people were taken to hospital with head, chest and leg injuries. After these accidents, the Scary Toys Factory rollercoaster remains out of service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The twin and operational cable car in Legendia is Dream Hunters Society<\/strong>. The console for its operation is quite a surprise for many guests. Operators have to manually operate the pressure in the device, and even push the car out a little so that it can be taken over by the drive pulling it up the hill. This is definitely an old-school experience in the Silesian park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other dangerous situations<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

There were probably many more incidents in Chorz\u00f3w and unfortunately they concerned guests visiting the park. In the case of Energylandia, the two accidents described above involved employees.<\/strong> Personally, I rarely visit Legendia, and yet I have witnessed situations that, in my opinion, should not take place in an amusement park. You can easily bring a phone to the Devil’s Loop and film the ride with it. If such a device were to fall out of your hands, it could seriously injure people riding in the back. I saw an identical situation on the Electric Ring carousel, where young girls with phones in their hands were having a great time and the staff did not react. I am afraid that the situation is similar on other attractions, including Lech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carrying items in pockets should not be allowed and staff should ensure this.<\/strong> I have the impression that the staff at Legendia turn a blind eye to many things. On Phoenix, the carousel hasn’t stopped yet, the engine hasn’t turned off, and two people open the gondolas and jump out. They run around the device while it’s still slowly spinning. What if such a child fell and got pulled under the carousel?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guest Flow Control<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Legendia lacks automatic gates and turnstiles<\/strong>, which dose the appropriate number of passengers themselves, and after the fun they are released. Unfortunately, the Silesian park still uses strings and ropes attached manually by employees. This solution is not safe and reduces capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Energylandia, we are admitted to almost all attractions using electronic and magnetic gates, displays are installed showing the number of available seats, and leaving the device is only possible after the attraction has completely stopped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, numerous employees and operators ensure safety, correct fastening of security devices, and even items brought onto attractions. Numerous deposit lockers make it easier to put away unnecessary items and ensure the safety of us and other guests. In turn, the Hyperion rollercoaster has metal detector gates installed, which helps avoid cases where guests take their phones onto the rollercoaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
