Aqualantis<\/a> this is one of the newest<\/strong>, the sixth thematic zone of the largest amusement park in Poland. Its premiere was originally supposed to take place in 2020. Due to the epidemiological situation at the time and the resulting delay in construction work, the premiere was postponed. However, it turns out that Aqualantis will gain a new look as intensive decoration works are underway<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was not until July 14, 2021 that a completely new zone was opened to guests.<\/strong> It has 9 new attractions, including the first double launch coaster in Poland. I’m talking about a roller coaster, of course. Abyssus<\/a><\/strong>, which is considered the third best rollercoaster in Energylandia<\/a><\/strong> and de facto also in the whole of Poland. Let’s see what will change in Aqualantis in the upcoming 2023 season. Let’s start from the moment when we got to know the visualizations of the new zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aqualantis Zone Announcement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2019, Zadra made its debut at Energylandia, and we also learned the details and visualizations of the new zone. As you can easily see in the renderings below, Aqualantis was to be characterized by the theme of water. Additionally, reference was made to the mythical city of Atlantis, which was flooded by the sea waters of the Atlantic Ocean after a series of earthquakes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the visualizations, apart from the water theme, you can see beautiful ancient architecture, numerous ruins, walls and columns<\/strong>. The whole is enriched with unique vegetation, fountains and old stone motifs. Even on the Abyssus route you can see tunnels that refer to the ruins of the old walls. They reflect the mythical city that was destroyed by cataclysms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A boat trip among atmospheric scenery and numerous fountains<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The designers of the zone beautifully arranged a large reservoir on which the Grotto Expedition boats were to sail.<\/strong> We can see numerous columns, rocks, abundant vegetation and numerous water effects and fountains. In the background on the right side it is easy to see brick arches at the Tidal Wave Twister attraction<\/strong> and a long pipe squirting water directly into the pond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water playground<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The water playground looks even more interesting.<\/strong> Just before entering the Light Explorers train, there was to be a fairly large water playground. The numerous streams, cascades, pipe decorations and play equipment were to be diversified by numerous fountains in the reservoir right next to it. On the square between the Hall of Columns restaurant and the Merchant of Aqualantis store, a large fountain was to spurt water. In turn, large cypress trees known from Italian Tuscany were to protrude from behind the buildings.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ancient Tidal Wave Twister<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Disk’O carousel called Tidal Wave Twister looks equally interesting in the visualizations. The attraction was supposed to greet us at the entrance to the water world of Aqualantis. A huge disk that can accommodate 40 people at a time moves on a wavy track it was to be decorated with ruins of walls and arches known from ancient architecture<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most interesting are the two pipes located at the top of the left hill<\/strong>, from which water was supposed to fall completely vertically down. In turn, below you can see a water effect, which probably it would shoot water when the carousel passed by<\/strong>. It would give an interesting water effect to those who happen to be on the entrance side. A similar effect can be seen in the Viking Ride attraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does Aqualantis look like now?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

More than three years after the presentation of the above visualizations, we know that Aqualantis doesn’t quite look like the designers planned<\/strong>. Most of the buildings, shops and restaurants really do relate to the theme of the zone, there is no shortage of water decorations, and the Hall of Columns restaurant is considered one of the most beautiful in Energylandia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite this, not everything in the zone was implemented as presented. In many places there is a lack of real water, numerous fountains and cascades, and there is little vegetation.<\/strong> The one we can see in Aqualantis certainly does not resemble Tuscan cypresses. The flagship attraction of the zone, Abyssus, has a quite faithfully realized entrance, with water cascades and an interesting station. However, it lacks the finishing of tunnels and other track elements, which in many places they are simply raw concrete without decoration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The water playground is much smaller than the one shown in the designs.<\/strong> The number of attractions, streams and cascades also does not match the visualizations. In turn, the nearby pond lacks fountains and water effects, and behind the walls there are no slender cypresses casting shadows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The greatest disproportions can be seen in the pond where we travel in the Grotto Expedition boats.<\/strong> We have a few concrete rocks, huge ruins and water. There are no slopes with vegetation, rock tunnels, brick arches and water effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, let’s take a look at the Tidal Wave Twister.<\/strong> The giant disc and turquoise track match the visualizations. However, the steel supports have not been finished in any way. The nearby walls do not quite match the carousel, which in the visualizations was beautifully enclosed by ruins of walls and ancient arches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After two seasons, Aqualantis will gain a new look<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After the 2021 and 2022 seasons Aqualantis zone has been closed for Winter Kingdom 2022<\/strong>. And this is due to unexpected and unannounced thematic works that are currently being carried out in the zone. This gives us hope that On April 1, 2023, Aqualantis will welcome us in a refreshed version and with new decorations<\/strong>. Thanks to this, Aqualantis will gain a new look and will be even more beautiful. For now, we only know about the work on the Tidal Wave Twister carousel. The photo from Wonder Wheel shows a large scaffolding erected over one of the peaks of the attraction track, as well as a smaller one in the very center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The photos posted on the website reveal more. Instagram by Prestigio-Art<\/a> from Przytkowice, which is responsible for work on many decorations in Energylandia. Photos from under the sheet covering the scaffolding show that we will finally see arches and ruins of walls<\/strong> that we saw in 2019 in visualizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We don’t know, however, if this is the only work that will be done in Aqualantis. There is still some time until the start of the 2023 season, so we can count on additional decorations at Abyssus or the squares and promenades. However, I wouldn’t expect a faithful reproduction of the visualizations from the Grotto Expedition attraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I must add that the same company works on the buildings and decorations of the zone Sweet Valley<\/a><\/strong>. In addition, Prestigio-Art employees created the finishing of numerous shops in the park, the Dragon Castle themes, the Anaconda station, the walls in the tunnel, the Jungle Adventure themes, Apocalypto, numerous fences, rock sculptures and probably many more objects throughout Energylandia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
